My Values

I value my family above all else. I believe that being a member of a family has many benefits and a few responsibilities, too. My current task is to find a way to make more room in my life for my family.
As a family member, I am a daughter, a sister, and, maybe most importantly, a mother. I receive love and emotional support from my parents, my siblings, and my children. I give love and emotional support in return. I also give my children financial support.
I live far away from my parents, my brothers, and my son, so I don’t get to spend much time with them. This is the 21st Century, though. Geographical distance is no excuse for not connecting with those you love. I have used Skype to talk to my son and one of my brothers. The cool part about Skype is that you can see each other as you share information. The tough part about Skype is the technology doesn’t always work as it should. I can also write emails or letters (remember the United States Postal Service?) more frequently. As a last resort (hehehe), there is the old-fashioned telephone.
If I value my family as much as I say I do, I should be willing to do what I need to do to keep in contact with those I love. I have no excuse to let days, weeks, or months go by without checking on them and learning about their lives.
